St Fagans is in the grounds of St Fagans castle and gardens. There are over 50 historic buildings from all over Wales that have been rebuilt in the grounds, including a Victorian school, a medieval church and a workman’s institute.

We will be able to have refreshments, walk round the museum and have lunch at our own pace. There is a restaurant and a tea room on site, as well as a shop where we get a 10 % group discount. Much of the site is in the open air, so you’ll need appropriate footwear and wet weather gear.

For members who might find walking difficult, I’ve booked a complimentary 5-seater buggy with a guide to drive people round or to provide a guided tour.

Cardiff Castle is one of Wales’ leading heritage attractions. It is located in beautiful parklands at the heart of the city. Originally it was the site of a Roman fort and the remains of the Roman wall can still be seen today. After the Norman conquest the castle’s keep was built reusing the site of the Roman fort. The castle passed through many noble families until in 1766 it passed by marriage to the Bute family. The 2nd Marquess of Bute was responsible for turning Cardiff in to the world’s greatest coal exporting port. The castle and fortune passed to his son John, the 3rd Marquess of Bute, who by the 1860s was reputed to be the richest man in the world.

We have a 50 minute guided tour booked at 2.30, followed by time to wander round at your own pace and maybe have a drink in the cafe.

The coach will pick us up from Hankridge Farm lay-by (opposite B & Q) at 9.15 and arrive at St Fagans around 11.00

We leave St Fagans at 1.30 for a short drive to the centre of Cardiff. The coach will park outside the castle and will leave Cardiff at 4.30 to be back in Taunton between 6 and 6.30.

The cost of the trip is £42 per person; This includes coach travel, transport to St Fagans (entrance is free), and entrance to and a guided tour of Cardiff Castle. Refreshments are not included.

Please note if you are unable to attend, we may not be able to offer a refund. There is a maximum number of 25 places on a first come first served basis. Early booking is advised.

Please be aware there may be uneven ground and steps.
